Get set….
It’s 11 am, and I’m sitting here surrounded by bags. Everything’s packed, Otakuu has just texted me to say she’s on her way back from Riccarton, and all I’ve got left to do is put my shoes on. As soon as Otakuu arrives, I’ll phone for a taxi to take us to the airport. And…
What I did at the weekend
(What do you mean, it’s Thursday already? So I’m keeping up my long tradition of never updating my diary on time…) Underneath my desk there are now four boxes: Box 1: Registered books, all labelled and ready for release. Box 2: Books still waiting to be registered (I needed a MUCH longer weekend!) Box 3:…
And now, wireless!
Yes, I’m sitting in the lounge, typing on the laptop, and connected to the internet completely without wires! (Ok, technically there is a wire, because the batteries on the laptop were running low so I’ve got it plugged into the wall, but no telephone wires are involved.) Yes, we finally got the wireless network up…
Linguist heaven
I forgot to mention the other wonderful thing that happened yesterday: a parcel arrived from Fuzzle (Ming and Saffy’s previous owner, now living in the UK). In it were a few yummy things (like jaffa cakes, the main thing MrPloppy misses since moving here), and my birthday present (yes, my birthday was months ago, but…
It's the second Tuesday of the month…
…and that means it’s Bookcrossing meetup night. Back to Cafe Bleu again (but we’ve decided to go somewhere else next time – we’re all getting a bit bored with them now), and a smallish turn-out: me, Alithia, awhina, lytteltonwitch, and MonkeCatcher. Most of the conversation centred, unsurprisingly, around the rapidly approaching BCNZ Convention, as at…
George's Big Adventure
George discovered the cat flap on Sunday night. He’s had the run of the house, but despite the fact we’d left the cat flap unlocked (so Ming and Saffy could come and go), we didn’t think he’d be able to get out because his previous owner told us he’d never had a cat flap so…

That’s a lovely picture of him. I’m glad I got to see him one last time recently (and see him enjoying Thai food!).

I know you will miss your furry friend….
Such a lovely cat. I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss
(((((hugs)))))
So sad to hear you have lost your beautiful boy. I had to go thru the same process with two of mine, both at 14 as well, one to diabetes, one to cancer. I’m grateful that my Dexter, at 14, is the picture of health despite being a little porkchop. I’m sure you have many sweet memories of Ming and it is nice that the roses will remind you of him. Take care.
