Bookring week

Did I say this was the week for bookrings? Another one arrived today: Choke by Chuck Palahniuk (this is completely unrelated to the Invisible Monsters bookring that arrived last week – it’s pure coincidence that two Palahniuk books turned up so close together).

MrPloppy had to go into town today for an appointment with his employment service, so he went into the library and got out a couple of audiobooks for me (just in time, because The Cat Who Wasn’t There finished when I was half way home). I’d said “just get me anything that isn’t utter trash”, so he got me Clan of the Cave Bear by Jean M Auel and One Hit Wonder by Tony Hawks. I’ve read both before, but that’s ok, because listening to them as audiobooks is a different experience to reading them as text, and anyway, I prefer to listen to something that doesn’t take too much concentration, so if I miss a few seconds because a noisy truck goes past, it doesn’t ruin the story. So they’re pretty good choices, really.

Got a catch from the Mt Cook trip (which I really will finish writing up soon): The Tortoise Shell by Fanny Frewen, which I released by the big fish in Rakaia. Lytteltonwitch always says that’s a good spot for catches, but until now I’d never had one there, so I was sceptical. But finally Rakaia has shown its worth 🙂
