Finished!

Back before Christmas I was looking for something in my embroidery stash, and came across the pile of half-finished projects I keep saying I’m going to finish before I start any new projects (yeah, right). Anyway, I was inspired to actually get back to work on one of them, and tonight I finished it!

I’ve got no idea when I started it, but I found an entry from 2005 saying it was nearly finished, so at least 6 years… actually, I’ve got a feeling I might have started it when we were still living in the UK, so that would be more like 12 years.

Of course, now that I’ve finished it, I’ve got no idea what I’m going to actually do with it… It’s pretty big, so I can’t afford to frame it (it’ll probably cost a few hundred dollars), and even if I could, I’m not sure where I’d put it, because most of the walls are already full (mostly with bookcases).

Anyone want a picture?

  1. ACK! you said the M word! Dont you know thats congaious? *sigh* now I’ve come down with a desire to bake muffins!

As for the neighbours… um, leave out the ‘throwing’ bit and just say their cat has been making himself at home at your place and just walked off with your eraser? Have to admit he does sound cute though. So typically feline. If I see it, its mine, if I sit on it, its mine, if I want it, its mine, if it moves, its mine, if its on the floor or any surface I can get to, iits mine… if I cant get to it I’ll howl till its mine!

  2. Wow, that is beautiful.

Do you know how to wash and block it?

    It’s not hard to do.

At least you could do that and get a mat for it.

All I used to do with mine is get a sink of warm soapy water, I used some baby shampoo… and let it soak a while. I rinsed it off and then got a large fluffy bath towel to put on the ironing board. Then you put your work right side down and iron the wrong side until it is dry. The stitches ‘pop’ into the fluffy towel and stand out.

    Easy peasy.

You can’t really hurt it that easily. It’s all cotton after all!

    Give it a go.
