Another meetup

A couple of weeks ago, I spotted a release alert from microsquid seeming to indicate she was in Christchurch, so I PMed her and invited her to meet the local bookcrossers. She replied that she’d just left Christchurch, but would be coming back through this week, so we arranged to have a meetup last night.

Unfortunately, probably because it’s only a week since the last meetup, only lytteltonwitch and I showed up to meet her :-(. I’d been talking to a new member, so I was hoping that she might come along too, but she obviously couldn’t make it, and none of the other regulars bothered to show up either. But that’s ok, the three of us had a nice chat, and shared a few books and recommendations of NZ authors, and anticipated London, where we’ll be meeting microsquid again.

I picked up A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby, and passed on Politics 101 by Anna Smith and The Adventures of the Railway Cat by Phyllis Arkle, and the waitress nabbed xxxHOLiC 6 by CLAMP.

A couple of recent catches I don’t think I’ve mentioned:

The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley, which I released in the Wellington YHA, turned up in the Auckland YHA (I’ve had so much success with the books from that YHA shelf – they seem to be bouncing back and forth between YHAs all over the country!)

Another book I released in Wellington in November, Blood Money by Anne Cassidy, was caught by a new member, and has also ended up in Auckland.
